Special Note from the Writer:
2012 marks a special year. Thirteen years ago, I toured the Campus immediately following this massacre. I saw for myself, the cars covered in flowers. I saw the names, gifts, and prayers. I watched reporters pursue any story within the campus hoping for the possibility of a promotion. I sat on a rock as hundreds of mourners walked aimlessly, in a state of confusion, with gorgeous mountains rising above their heads in the distance.
Never did that young man on the rock think he would write a play almost ten years later. That day stayed with me. It constantly tapped me on the shoulder with grief, although I never knew those people I relentlessly observed.
On my move from Chicago to Los Angeles, I was lucky to have curiously driven through Littleton Colorado. In my research, I have gotten to know these wonderful people placed in this re-telling of this Columbine story.
In my initial interview with Crystal Woodman-Miller, I knew we would become friends, and much like the characters in the story, we have.
Rachel Scott's father, Darrell and I have gotten to know each other somewhat through these few years. We are proud to have his full support of the play and the upcoming film.
2012 is a special year, because it represents 13 years. 13 killed.
